December 10, 2011

No matter where you go every city seems to have adopted certain bands as “local gems” when they come through to play. In Fort Collins, CO the music community has seem to adopt quite a few bands including Ohio-based electronic-jam band Papadosio. But what makes bands like Papadosio so special? Is it the fact that if Lotus and Perpetual Groove got together and had a baby it would be named Papadosio? Or is it the warm mood lighting that fills the air and creates the right type of ambiance during their spacey jams? I’ll give it to ‘ya straight: its confidence, patience, and fluidity, and fans at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins last Thursday were able to witness such once again and without disappointment.

Every transition, key stroke, drum beat, and guitar flutter did not go unnoticed. Unveiling some new material while digging into tracks such as ‘Find Your Cloud’ and ‘The Unparalyzer’ the quintet created a free-flowing dance floor for fans new and old. Which brings up another great point as to why Papadosio is great: their fans. It is beyond amazing the type of glow and smile that contagiously makes it’s way to every person and is enough to keep one glowing well through the evening. Even the members of the band could be caught smiling and gushing themselves in the midst of their jams.

Papadosio has gained success through their ingenuity as well. The band has stayed true to their music and their fans which can be very difficult to find in music now-a-days but remains to be a key ingredient to success in the jam band community. However when you look in the right places, you too will find your “local gem” much like how Fort Collins has found and grown to love Papadosio and that is worth every smile line and sore foot in the end.

Papadosio will be saying good-bye to 2011 with a two-night run in their home state Ohio on December 30 and 31. Their 2012 Winter Tour will feature shows all along the East Coast.
