Artist Max Zorn

Max Zorn, a self-taught Dutch street artist, uses only translucent packing tape and a mere scalpel to create intricately layered portraits on plexiglas, which he then hangs on public street lights — you know, for best viewing.

John Brown’s Body back touring the East Coast

JOHN BROWN’S BODY EAST COAST TOUR

Future Roots Octet To Release New Studio Material

On May 10th, progressive reggae band John Brown’s Body kicks off a ten-date east coast tour. The octet will be releasing new studio material later this spring.

In the past three years, John Brown’s Body has completed first-ever tours of New Zealand, the UK, and Europe. Their latest album, Amplify, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Reggae Chart.

Quote from drummer Tommy Benedetti:

“We have a bunch of new music in the works… five dubs and an unreleased fan favorite are being mixed in Boston, by former JBB engineer Craig “Dub Fader” Welsch (10 Ft. Ganja Plant, State Radio, The Aggrolites). We’ve made serious progress on the new full length, seven new tracks are complete, we hope to have it out by late summer. It will be mixed by Matt Saccuccimorano, the man behind our 2002 Spirits All Around Us record. Until then, come celebrate with us on tour!”

John Brown’s Body’s “Future Roots” uses reggae as a foundation, but incorporates dub, drum & bass, dancehall, hip hop and other musical explorations to create a sound both timeless and forward. However it’s defined, people are buzzing about this progressive group from Boston and Ithaca, NY. The eight-piece band’s explosive live show boasts super heavy rhythms, a three-piece horn section, air tight drum and bass, and “the most gorgeous melodies in all of modern reggae music” (All Music Guide).

“…some of the most forward-thinking reggae music in the world today.” - LA2DAY

Herakut – Loving the exiled

A girl named Hera and a man named Akut make up the two person team from Germany know as Herakut. Since 2004, Herakut has been combining Akut’s photorealistic spray paint with Hera’s more traditional techniques such as charcoal and acrylic. Beautiful time lapse for their 931 Geary Gallery show.
