A letter to Patrick Daly

pat

Dear Pat,

I am writing you this letter on the day Sackmagazine.com has been officially launched, a website built in your memory and inspired by your amazing outlook on life. We miss you more than words can explain. I know your up in heaven watching over us and I don’t doubt that your wearing board shorts and no shirt. Pat you taught all of your friends how important it is to live every single day like its your last and do what you love, and that is the entire concept behind Sack Magazine. The joy you brought into the lives of everyone you knew will never be forgotten. That day after you passed away, all of us were outside on the porch talking about you as we kicked around a Hacky-Sack. We spoke of the way you always had a huge smile on your face, regardless of anything that was going on in your life. We talked of the good times, the crazy times, and we couldn’t believe you were gone. That was when sackmagazine.com was born. We wanted to create something revolving around humanitarianism, helping others, and most importantly teaching people to follow their dreams and spend time with those they care about. You were our roommate, our friend, and we’ll always consider you family. One year later we have Sack Magazine in your memory and honor… and I hope you are up there smiling down.

    Pat,

This world needs more people with your mentality and grasp on what truly is important in life. The loyalty towards yourself and your beliefs, and the tolerance you showed to others is so real. Both passionate and caring- you gave without any thought of reward. Happiness, peace, love, friendship, and, of course, no fear, are all words that come to mind when I hear your name. Watch over us.

    Love,

    - tbaz

    Pat,
You’re still thought of often and I can still hear your voice and laughter as if you were right beside me. The greatest irony is you passed on my birthday kid so now for the rest of my life that day will be marked not only with festivities to celebrate my birth but also with the solemn remembrance of your death. But,perhaps most importantly, that day will be filled REVERENCE for the person you were, the unity and joy you inspired, the amazing times I was lucky enough to share with you along with that signature laughter and smile of yours that could have been trademarked. If every human being was capable of the level of compassion, empathy and acceptance that you showed to every individual you met, the world would be a perfect place. Since you’re gone I guess it’s up to the rest of us to keep that legacy alive. Thank you for making me a better person Pat. You’ll be forever loved.

Patty I know your reading this up in heaven. Im sitting here with Kimmy and Laflamme, talking about how crazy you were and how much we miss you kid. You would be proud of all this…

  9. Steve Gauthier says:

Man I really wish I had gotten the chance to meet Pat…he sounds like an extraordinary person who would have done much greater things in this world if he’d had the time to do it. It’s amazing how much one person can influence you to be a better person or to appreciate what you have whether it be friends, opportunities or family…But the best thing we can do to remember those who can no longer be with us is to keep their memory alive, no matter what it takes. So here’s to Pat, who will undoubtedly inspire anyone who reads this online magazine in a world where ‘only the good die young’
